October 2024 Update

Things may be quiet in your home garden in winter but on Motutapu it is our busy time of the year with the planting season that is now drawing to a close, planning in the nursery for the next season and, as always, plenty of weeding to maintain the growing forest. We always welcome more volunteers!

In other news, we are excited to have our new vehicle on the motu - a Mitsubishi Delica 4WD able to take 8 willing volunteers. The old troop carrier has been sold to an enthusiast looking for a DIY project.

The rat that was first seen on the motu in May has now been officially eradicated thanks to the efforts of DOC, Ngāi Tai and Auckland Council using some exciting new techniques.

We had an amazing response to our request for donations towards the vehicle - a huge thank you to everyone who donated. If you would still like to make a contribution, please see the instructions at the bottom of this email.
