Glenys and Val
These girls are two of our very favourite nursery regulars !! Glenys and Val also take a keen interest in heritage aspects of the island (they just love that old stone staircase that was rediscovered cut into the sea wall at Home Bay. They take every opportunity to walk up and down it ...when they're not in the nursery, that is.)

Why did you volunteer on Motutapu the first time?

V:I was interested to learn about the program and to contribute
What has been your most notable experience when volunteering on Motutapu so far?
G: Watching the 'greening' of the island is rewarding and it is satisfying to share a common aim
V: While tree planting in the early years, clambering up almost perpendicular slopes, spade and tree sapling in hand and just trying to make it up there!
How often have you volunteered on Motutapu?
G:For years intermittently
V: Approx 5 times per year for several years
Will you volunteer on Motutapu again?
G: Definitely - it's my island therapy
V: Yes
Do you volunteer on your own or with a group?
G: With family and one day I hope to bring along my grandsons to continue the good work!
V: With my sister
What would you say to to others who might think about volunteering on Motutapu?
G: Do it! It's a wonderful way to de-stress and enjoy the day with a great group of people - and help restore the island to boot!
V: DO IT! An extremely rewarding and satisfying experience plus a lovely day away from the city
