To encourage more volunteer participation in the winter weed-busting programme, the Motutapu Restoration Trust (through sponsorship from Weedbusters*) is offering a free ferry ticket to experienced weed-buster volunteers to work on the winter weed-busting programme.
What is involved?
Take part in grid searches through the established planted area in the Home Bay Forest in the winter season checking for and dealing with moth-plant infestations.
What does experienced mean?
You need to: be able to identify moth-plant in its juvenile and mature form; understand the principles of a grid search approach for moth-plant; and have taken part in a moth-plant grid search on either Motutapu or another restoration project;
What if I haven't done this before but I'm really keen to learn?
Then give us a call and let's talk about it!
A limited number of Winter Weed-busting tickets are available on public volunteer days every 1st, 3rd and 5th Sunday of each month. To book your 'Winter Weed-busting' ticket contact Belinda on 09-522-0919 or email
