We need your help at the DUAL Motutapu-Rangitoto Traverse 26th & 27th March We need volunteers to help with marshalling and food preparation. Can you help? Not only is it a great way to support the Trust and the event but it is also an opportunity to meet other MRT volunteers. If you are one of our regular island restoration volunteers - take a break from the summer nursery and weeding work, enjoy a different volunteering experience on Motutapu. if you've never visited Motutapu before but think that you would like to come over and help - we would love to have you. The ferry ride to Home Bay wharf is only approx 30 mins from downtown Auckland. Marshal & food volunteers need to be available to travel to Motutapu on Friday 26th March, catching a 4pm ferry from Downtown. There will be a number of return ferries on Saturday afternoon. Free overnight accommodation will be provided at the Motutapu Outdoor Education Camp (MOEC) however you will need to bring your bedding (sleeping bag etc) with you. Dinner, breakfast and lunch will also be provided at no cost to you. Marshals will be positioned over each of the race courses. Your role is to ensure event participants are heading the right way! Some marshals will be on aid stations which will be stocked with water, food etc for the competitors. You will be given full instruction on exactly what you need to do. Prepare yourself for a long but really enjoyable day. Everyone will need to be in position by 8am and you will not be returned to Home Bay until the last participant has passed your station (could be after 3pm). Volunteers for food preparation will prepare the dinner, breakfast and lunches for the marshal volunteers. If you would like to volunteer but can't come out on the Friday night there may be other volunteer roles available on the Saturday, leaving Downtown on the ferry at 9am. If you would like to volunteer to help with The DUAL please let us know by email ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) or phone (09-522-0919 or 09-524-5072), specifying whether or not you are able to travel on the Friday evening, and we will send you more information about what is involved.
